From the Garden to the plow
A song in progress...
I’m bewildered now Cast from the garden to the plow Lost in the brambles and the sacred cows Blown like a breath under the sun I remember your voice Across the sea ancient and free as the light Smoke on the mountain Blood from the fountain Deep still calls out to deep
The seed was scattered We sneaked in the night sowing tears I sewed on the fig leaves, hid behind snake trees Toiled by the sweat of my brow But then Love pronounced a promise to me Sweet as a primrose through snow Flood on the earth came Water of birth pangs I walked out upon the sea
The angel of death Rocked my cradle made no sound The shadow passed over, found me neath the cover And the Jordan rolled back like a stone A door of hope flamed like a sword Light bloomed bright as blood Sing on the mountain Rest by the fountain The promise will make all things good
