Sweden is being urged to do more to save an endangered Germanic language dating back to biblical times. It’s called Elfdalian, and it can be heard in the woodlands and mountains around the town of Alvdalen in Central Sweden, North West of Stockholm. Once banned by the authorities, plans are afoot to re-introduce Efldalian to pre school kindergartens, but campaigners say that more must be done, including recognition that it is a language rather than a dialect.
