Spooks

“MI5 not 9 to 5” ran the strapline when the BBC1 spy series Spooks burst onto the screens in 2002. This was the high-octane, edge of the seat programme that seemed to relish killing off at least one main character in every series and would have us believe that the nation’s national security was under the watchful eye of just a handful of spooks.

Before the final series aired in 2011 Peter Firth and Nicola Walker (MI5 boss Harry Pearce and analyst, and eventually Harry’s love interest Ruth Evershed) spoke to BBC Radio 4 Extra producer Paul Arnold.

Here’s part of one of those featurettes. Nicola is, incidentally, the ‘voice’ of Radio 4 Extra.
