Re-join me, #Robert and my #parents on our #canal #boat #trip in #Gloucester at the end of #July #2013, with a particularly #animated #guide. This boo starts where the other one finished, at Two-Mile Bend, where the boat turns, which means you hear the loud #horn #signal again, plus the guide explaining what it means, after telling us about a recent civil engineering project there.

As the boat turns to go back to Gloucester #Docks, we discuss who finished the water bottle I had in a bag and Robert asks Dad about the #SwingBridge, mentioned in the previous boo, which Dad describes.

On our journey back to Gloucester Docks, we learn about the history of the boat, including her use during #WWII to pick up casualties and her many years as a passenger #ferry since.

We hear how Gloucester’s main #export to #Bristol now is its fresh #water, which our boat is #sailing on.

We also hear a bit of #local #history, including the #CivilWar origins of a famous #NurseryRhyme and about some current and future #development in Gloucester.

At the end of the excellent, #enthusiastic #commentary, we give our guide #applause as we enjoyed it so much. I hope you enjoy listening. :)
