Arnold Clark won't do a walk around when handing your car in

Feb 12, 2014, 12:20 PM

Sign here says Paul - on check in at Arnold Clark. I asked him to do a walk around & this was refused. "We don't need anything like that"

Why don't you wish the customer to witness this check?

As heard here the mechanic does the walk around before the car goes into the workshop but out of the view of the customer. Any damage is marked down - confirmed by Paul to be on the "back" of this sheet that the customer has signed, as heard here. The page I signed the reverse was blank and still was on collection.

However the trick is a 2nd unsigned page appears and they now claim this was the there all along.

Get a customer to sign a page. Then attached a 2nd page at a later date. Tut tut

The body card we saw on collection confirmed 1 little mark on rear bumper which I knew was old. On finding the car with additional damage. Customer service manager Linda refused to show us the paperwork - Saying "It's hers" What strange behaviour for a garage.

Now several days later Arnold Clark decide I can now see it again but it now has additional marks added onto the body card. Still doesn't show the new scuffs caused while in their care though!

If you’re using a 2nd page which you rely on – the signature needs to be either on both pages or at the very end of the document that states page 2 of 2. You can’t have a customer sign a page then add on things at a later date to suit your story!!

As confirmed in the audio saying anything will be noted on the back as the page that was blank at the time of signing. This means a page 2 has appeared from somewhere. I've not signed this body card and hadn't seen this prior to collecting the vehicle.

More audio to come
