The issue of homosexuality in Africa has been in the news over the last few weeks, following decisions by the authorities in countries such as Uganda and Nigeria to strengthen anti-homosexuality laws. Recently, four young men convicted of gay sex, were whipped publicly as punishment in an Islamic court in Nigeria's north-eastern state of Bauchi. And the governor of the state Mallam Isa Yuguda, told BBC Africa's Akwasi Sarpong that homosexuality is not part of their culture:
