Residents are being invited to an event this weekend to learn more about one of Brighton’s oldest historical sites.

An open day on Saturday (August 23) at Whitehawk camp near Brighton Racecourse will shed light on the Neolithic people who first occupied the city over 5000 years ago.

A community archaeological dig is underway, and details of the open day are on http://tinyurl.com/oe5hbv4 or search “Dig Whitehawk”. Here project manager for Archaeology South East Jon Sygrave explains how they’re exploring a nationally-significant site, older than Stonehenge.
