Swiss improv vocalist Andreas Schaerer spoke to Chris Philips at Jazz FM after his EFG London Jazz Festival date at Club Inegales

Andreas Schaerer is a hidden gem. He has delighted those that have seen him at Club Inegales, Ronnie Scotts and the Vortex in London and countless venues in Europe with his playful, ever more inventive and humorous vocal improvisations. Steeped in jazz, Schaerer has recorded several albums. His recent CD 'Arcanum' saw him team up with improvisational percussionist Lucas Niggli to create a joyful sound that lands between the comedic and the anarchic with jazz, hip hop and monasterial sounds in between. Chris invited Andreas in for a chat and a few improvisational interludes and the result was great fun. Andreas appears tonight, Monday November 24th, at Jazz In The Round at the Cockpit Theatre in Marylebone along with Leafcutter John and Manchester's Nat Birchall.
