A Leeds woman has received an official apology from the NHS after being kept waiting for an operation for well over a year. Dawn O'Toole is a mum-of-three from Armley and was diagnosed with endometriosis in January 2014. Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has issued a statement on behalf of Suzanne Hinchliffe, the Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Executive at the Trust. It reads: "We would like to apologise to Ms O'Toole for the long delays she has encountered and will be contacting her directly to say sorry and to discuss how we can resolve her concerns and progress her treatment. "There was a period of time in which Ms O'Toole's case was reviewed by a number of surgeons to find the correct professional to take her treatment forward. The clinical decision was delayed, and we acknowledge this was unacceptable. "We're doing everything possible to resolve this situation. Once again we are very sorry for the delay and the distress this has caused her." Dawn has told BBC Radio Leeds, despite the apology she still has not got a date for her operation. She's spoken to our reporter Tracy Gee. #Leeds #NHS #endometriosis
