It’s been a dramatic and traumatic few weeks for a number of Liverpool’s nightclubs following a series of police raids. This week, the licensing authorities made decisions on whether to permanently close two of them – we have the full story, including reaction from club-goers, club owners and the council. Back in the day, the most club-goers had to worry about in Liverpool was the body heat and odour from hundreds of youngsters crammed sooo close together in basement venues like The Cavern. This week, tickets went on sale for a homecoming concert from (Sir) Paul McCartney in the air-conditioned Echo Arena – we talk to fans who queued through a very cold night to ensure they are at the gig in May. Within a week, two political parties who may be king-makers at the general election had their final conference before the big day in Liverpool.
