The Pablo Picasso painting Les Femmes D'Alger was painted in tribute to his friend and rival Henri Matisse, and is based on a painting of the same name by Eugène Delacroix.

It's been the star of a pre-sale world tour and may go for even more money than Francis Bacon's triptych of Lucian Freud which sold for a record breaking $140m in 2013.

We asked Emma Ward from Simon Dickinson Fine Art why there is so much interest in this piece of work.

Last week, Vincent Van Gogh's L'Allee des Alyscamp sold for $66m - now compared to the Picasso that may be pocket change - but it does look like art is getting more and more expensive.

We asked Harco van den Oover, managing director of Overstone Art Services why that is.
