The Provisional IRA still exists - and members were involved in the murder of republican Kevin McGuigan. Those are the words of Northern Ireland's most senior policeman, Chief Constable George Hamilton. But he also says the organisation is not engaged in terrorism and remains committed to politics. Yet Sinn Fein are standing firm in denial, with their president Gerry Adams declaring yesterday the IRA has "gone away". The conflicting standpoints were made clear after high profile talks between the Chief Constable and politicians on Saturday. So what exactly is going on here?
