CMT TRAIL STOP 7 WORDS SPOKEN BY CAMBRIDGE MUSEUM OF TECHNOLOGY'S CURATOR, PAM HALLS:

Right, we’re going to go back through the door now and head off towards the Boiler Room but before we get there we are going to find the clocking-in machine. We are actually going to look at the one on the left and although it wasn't actually used here it is the sort of thing that workers in industrial buildings all around Cambridge would have used to clock in and so they brought a card and they would put it into the machine into this slot here on the left then you would press the lever here on the right and this would stamp the time of your arrival on the card and then when you left in the evening you would take your card, insert it in the slot again, pull the lever and it was stamped the time that you had left work so that your boss could work out how much money to pay you.
