The story of Josiah Wilson- a Heiltsuk man who wasn't allowed to play in the All-Native Basketball tournament because he was adopted from Haiti- has sparked a national conversation about blood and belonging within indigenous communities in Canada. We speak to Damien Lee of the Fort William First Nation and PhD candidate at the University of Manitoba about what blood quantum is, and how it's changed our understanding of indigenous people in Canada.
