The Strypes

From Cavan, Ireland to the rest of the world, The Strypes first came to my attention after reading an NME article where Noel Gallagher was raving about these ‘kids’. The band play at full throttle, at a break neck speed; similar to what you’d expect to see from 1970’s footage of Dr Feelgood on the Old Grey Whistle Test. It’s a recycled sound- and we’re all told that recycling is good for us- that has been given a revamp and everyone’s been buzzing off The Strypes’ fast and furious R&B sound since their debut in 2013. Since then they’ve played all over, had their sweaty laundry sniffed by crazed fans, and guested on Paul Weller’s “Saturns Pattern”. With their vintage sound and ethos, I was itching to find out if modern day media such as Twitter was important to a band with an old school mentality.
