5SX, Swansea - Launch reflections

5SX came on air on 12th December 1924 from Oxford Buildings on Union Street in Swansea; the last in the first tranche of BBC local relay stations.
Alderman John Lewis, who was the Town's Mayor, declared the station open. Here, Wilfrid Goatman, reflects.
New studios were installed at Alexandra Road by 1937, then described as 'the best in Europe outside London'.
