Setting a clear vision for outstanding Tony Ryan - Headteacher, Chiswick School

“It is hard to believe that I am now in my 27th year of teaching and my seventh as a Headteacher. This is the last job that I ever would have dreamed of doing whilst at school, I left at 16 with Maths, English and Art (they let me in at breaks) and for my first six working years trained as a car mechanic with FIAT.

Fed up with having three baths each evening before going out, and aware that I was not quite as daft as my teachers had convinced me, I went in search of something else and found a sponsored degree in Design & Technology with ILEA. The idea was to grab a qualification and jump back into industry but the first time I stood in front of students I loved the buzz and excitement of the sheer potential in front of me and still do!

Now privileged to lead a vibrant learning team at Chiswick School, after many years as Satisfactory or worse, Ofsted assessed us this year as Good with some great bits....the journey is not over.”
