Since the horsemeat scandal broke, some butchers around the country are reporting sales up over 10% as consumers turn away from processed meat products. But do we really pause to consider how our butchered steak or mince gets onto our plate and how traceable is a burger bought at your local butcher? I followed the process from farm to butchers shop yesterday morning and witnessed the killing of a heifer. I also spoke to some customers at the English Market in Cork about how the horsemeat scandal has changed their meat buying practices.
