MEN ALIVE – a new one hour programme presented by Brian O’Connell and produced by Róisín O’Dea and Brian O’Connell. This new programme explores male identity in Ireland today. The role of Irish men has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Men are perhaps more emotionally articulate and societal expectations placed on men across the western world has shifted. Men Alive looks at some of the challenges and pressures faced by Irish men today. While Irish radio may be dominated by male voices – sensitive issues surrounding masculinity are rarely covered on the airwaves. Men Alive hopes to get to the heart of some of these issues – if only for one hour! Broadcast date: Newstalk, Saturday 11th May 7am (repeated at 9pm). Supported by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
