Through intense research done by scientists, we have found that our earth is beginning to heat up, and the outcome will be dramatic. Scientists have begun to investigate this topic further by using ice cores. Ice cores are long cylinders of ice that are pulled out of glaciers or sheets of ice, and they are used to determine the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from previous years, temperatures of the past, as well as many other environmental facts.
