Minster Voices

This sound installation was recorded by Historyworks on location in York Minster & edited on ProTools in our studio. Minster Voices is designed to be listened to as a "sound poem" of voices and "foundsound" fx. It was made with support from York Minster Revealed, & commissioned by ihear2 for an audio sound concert at the Cathedral. The brief was to use the acoustic spaces and challenge the public to experience York Minster in a new way. Our sound installation was produced from editing oral history interviews recounting past and present experiences of people working in the Minster. All the voices were recorded on location and together tell the story of those who clean, maintain, fix, and renovate the Minster. The sound installation was played out in the Lady Chapel to give visitors to the Minster an experience of intimate verbatim voices, as if hearing these accounts first-hand, which you can now experience inside or outside York Minster via this audioboo... http://historyworks.tv/
