Paul Apowida: Spirit Boy author

Paul Apowida was born in a remote part of northern #Ghana. His parents and six other relatives died suddenly soon after his birth. Seemingly with no other explanation - the community decided the baby was to blame. They thought he harboured an evil force and labelled him a 'spirit child'. Multiple attempts to kill him were foiled by a local nun and he grew up in an orphanage far from home. Nearly thirty years later, he's a member of the British army and an accomplished painter. He has told his extraordinary life story in a new book called Spirit Boy. He spoke to Akwasi Sarpong.
