Martin Drury started his National Trust career as a young Historic Buildings Representative at Knole in 1973. He went on to become Director-General of the National Trust, but always maintained a special interest in Knole, and fondly remembers his time there as a 'constant pleasure'. Among the more light-hearted and memorable anecdotes is this one about the Queen Mother, who was entertained at Knole on her 75th birthday.
