James Deegan explain the background to the Stradbally Market House Restoration Project.

The Market House in Stradbally, Co Laois is an open shelter of very distinctive pagoda-roof design, built in 1899 of steel construction on the Market Square of the town as a memorial to Dr William Perceval, a respected local doctor who had died earlier the same year. It is currently being restored by a community group (Market House Restoration Committee) with support from Laois Partnership under the Rural Development (LEADER) Programme. The Project is scheduled for completion in summer 2014.
