Culture Minister, Ed Vaizey, reads Adlestrop by Edward Thomas

Edward Thomas is one of Ed's favourite poets and this poem immortalised the small Gloucestershire village of Adlestrop. It was actually written just before the war but Ed chose it because it describes an England before it descends into the hell of the First World War. He says it's full of nostalgia for an age that is about to disappear.....
