"We want to be a nation" says Catalan MP

There's a vote happening today on independence for Catalonia. But it's not like the vote for Scottish independence which is happening later this year. This vote is not for Catalans. It's for MPs in the Spanish parliament in Madrid.
They are voting on whether Catalonia - the wealthy North Eastern region of Spain around Barcelona - should be granted a referendum on independence. Barring a miracle, they will vote NO.

But in Barcelona, many Catalans are determined to have their vote - and maybe go their own way - regardless of what MPs in Madrid may say.

One MP in Madrid who WILL be voting to allow a referendum is Alfred Bosch. He's from Barcelona. A Catalan nationalist with the ERC party - Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya....

Why does he want Catalonia to become a nation - separate from Spain...?
