D-Day Landing: Alan King

We're looking back on the events of Dday, seventy years ago today. What felt like a whole generation of young men stormed the beaches of Normandy, it was an extraordinary military risk and thousands of lives were lost.

But it's seen by many as the moment the allied forces took the upper hand in the war.

Alan King from Thornham Parva had just turned twenty. His tank was among the first on Sword beach.

He's been remembering that day for BBC Radio Suffolk. You can hear Alan's story in full by listening again to the Etholle George Breakfast show. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01zqcdy
