Rising wool prices could be great news for local farmers - and it's all down to Chinese carpets. The price of wool is up by 10-per-cent this summer and, with all of last year's stock already sold, farmers will be getting cheques at least a third bigger than they did in 2013. Go back 5 years and it was costing some of them 6 times more to have their sheep shorn than they made by selling the wool - so could we see a return to the past when 'Leominster gold' - the Ryeland fleeces - made the town richer than London?
