The #OnThisDay take on the 80th anniversary of the #Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary in San Francisco Bay receiving its first prisoners on this day in 1934. The 137 prisoners arrived at by railroad from Kansas and California, watched over by a staff of 155, including the first warden James A. Johnston.
