We have some new numbers on income levels in this province. Figures gleaned from the latest income tax filings provide a snapshot of personal revenue in each province and Saskatchewan saw the average taxpayers generated $45,500 in 2012. That is the latest information that is available.
That is an increase of 4 per cent over the previous year.
Interestingly, when exploring which forms of income are growing the fastest, the biggest increases came from investments, up nearly 14 percentage points. Earned income – or money that comes in from working at a job – rose about four percent. Social assistance increased slightly faster at 5 per cent. Reductions were seen in self-employed income, employment insurance and workers’ comp receipts.
The other interesting tidbit is that incomes rose fastest in Kindersley – about nearly 8 per cent – followed by North Battleford.
This marks ten straight years of increases in average incomes reported on tax returns,
