Updates on civil claim filed against RCMP constable accused of hurting Terrace man

An RCMP officer who used to be stationed in Terrace is facing allegations that he hurt a man who was handcuffed in an RCMP cell.
Criminal charges were never laid, and nothing has been proven in court.
The family of Robert Wright has filed a civil suit against RCMP constable Brian Heideman and the province of British Columbia. They allege Heidemen threw Wright to the ground, causing him to hit his head on a concrete bench and a metal toilet, causing permanent brain injury.
New amendments to the claim now allege Heideman may have been using steroids at the time, as well.
In a response filed in court, Heideman denies the initial allegations, saying Wright was angry and shouting during a search, and had to be tackled. Heideman hasn't yet responded to the new allegations of steroid use.
