"The IRA did shoot people, kneecap them... I believe the people who volunteered to the IRA were decent people"

Interviewed on Newstalk FM Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald explains that in dealing with instances of 'anti-social behavior' "the IRA did shoot people, kneecap them and told them to leave, it's not a case of moving them".

When asked if she agreed with Gerry Adams that the people who ran IRA 'courts' were "decent people" she explained "I believe that people who volunteered to the IRA were decent people".
