Artist Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye exhibits a retrospective of her work at the Gallery of African Art in London. She opened her first art gallery in a small bedroom she shared with two co-wives, and now she owns one of the biggest galleries in West Africa. From her great grandmother who was a weaver and textile maker, Nike Davies-Okundaye learnt how to make Adire; a traditional technique Yoruba women used to make fabric and batik with indigo dye. Nike is credited with the contemporary revival of this once fading textile and batik industry.
