Seafront at Roker is Blossomed by Local School

Youngsters from Dame Dorothy Primary School in Roker, Sunderland were today planting bud's down at Marine Walk at Roker Beach. The planting scheme was put together by Tom Parkin, Chair of the Sunderland Seafront Traders Association, alongside Sunderland City Council, who provided the bud’s and had workers on hand to help the children plant the buds.
The scheme was set up to help keep the award winning seafront looking nice and offered the children some valuable gardening skills.
We spoke to many people who were down at the event including Phil Dorian, Landscape artist at Sunderland City Council who said the event was a “Success” and that “hopefully we are going to be looking at future projects on the seafront, too strengthen up what we’ve did here, and hopefully we’ll get the kid’s involved and more local school’s involved in most of our projects”.
The children had a brilliant day, one even stating that she didn’t have a garden at home, but loved gardening at the seafront today.
