War Artists

During this centenary year you will have seen many images of the First World War, but as well as the use of films and photographs to document what happened, the new role of the "official" war artist provided an alternative interpretation of the conflict. The Welsh artists Frank Brangwyn and Augustus John were among those who attempted to document life on the front line, and it's a tradition that survives today.
