LAPD Chief Charlie Beck Discusses Improper Police Killing

Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck said Thursday he found three officers acted improperly when they killed a man at the end of a high speed chase last year. Beck said he did not believe the officers were in fear for their lives when they shot Brian Beaird, after Beaird had crashed a silver Corvette into a fire hydrant and was trying to get away on foot. The City paid Beaird's family $5-million to settle a wrongful death lawsuit.
