Gun recovered 37 years later

On a Friday night in the winter of 1977 Robert Pittenger had a 20 gauge shotgun hanging on a rack in his pickup truck. Sometime that night the window was smashed and someone stole that Remington 870. The following Monday Robert went to the Salt Lake City Police and filed a report. He had to call over to Sunset Sports to get the serial number, but eventually it was included in the report. Fast-forward 37 years to today. An Oregon State Police Trooper comes across a shotgun and wondered who it belongs to. A quick check of the serial number shows the gun was stolen in Utah in the winter of 1977. Tomorrow morning the Salt Lake City Police will return the gun Mr. Pittenger now nearly 4 decades since it was taken from his pickup truck.
