A whistle-stop tour of Zambia's music scene

How much do you know about the Zambian Music scene? Not much? Well you are probably in the majority.

With over 70 different tribes, Zambia in southern Africa is a country with a rich cultural heritage - each tribe has its own unique set of songs and beats. Sadly, the poor economic conditions and the proliferation of western-influenced music, coupled with English as a national language, have been threatening to wipe out Zambia's musical heritage.

But there are some musicians trying to keep the culture alive. Our reporter Sarah Stolarz went to meet some of them - first via the 1970s…
