Should we tax fizzy drinks to cure obesity?

How would you feel about paying more for your soft drinks in future? Well the fizz could be taken out of your pop as the 'British Dietetic Association' (BDA) have now called for a 'tax on sugary drinks' in a bid to to reduce obesity. This is part of a new policy that says that there is too much sugar in the nations diet.
Is this an important move to tackle obesity? Or does this leave a distinctive 'nanny state' after-taste?
