A BBC Radio Stoke investigation's revealed serious concerns about the way the social care system for people with mental health problems is run in Staffordshire. There hasn't been an official legal agreement with the NHS trust that's supposed to run the service for over three years. The fact the official agreement between those two bodies expired over three years ago means "ability to challenge service delivery and resolve disputes with the trust is severely compromised". That's a quote from an audit report from 2013 that the council refused to release until ordered to by a watchdog. It says there's been "an erosion in effective working relations". The council insists the quality of mental health social care is very good. The NHS trust says it's "keen to make sure its arrangements with the council are robust".
