Pensioner benefits - should older people get more than the young?

Free bus passes, free TV licences, winter fuel allowances - these, the Prime Minister will say today, are not unnecessary luxuries but what elderly people deserve.

The formal commitment will open up the debate about whether the elderly - particularly wealthy elderly people - are being super served while poorer younger people take the deficit reductions hits.
