IRA play park row that won’t go away #BBCNolan

A controversial play park in Newry is in the headlines again. It's named after the IRA hunger striker Raymond McCressh who came from the area. His convictions included attempted murder, conspiracy to murder and possession of firearms. Tonight a motion will be brought before Newry & Mourne District Council to reverse the naming of the play park. Last month Unionists were furious when councillors voted to retain the name. And there's another move to block McCreesh's name from the play park. Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott plans to introduce legislation to prevent public facilities being named after people convicted of terror offences.
