Giant Asteroid Collision may have Transformed Mars -- Brock 104

Mars got its mysterious appearance after getting hit by a giant asteroid. In the early 1970's, NASA sent a probe out to space to make the first detailed map of Mars' surface. The researchers came to a conclusion that it showed dramatic drops in surface elevation, and in crustal thickness.
