LISTEN: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with a women who was found guilty of murdering her father

Mar 12, 2015, 03:05 PM

We're taking you behind bars, as we head to New Hall Women's Prison near Wakefield. A new scheme's being launched there to try and reduce re-offending rates, prevent women getting depressed and committing suicide and stop their children following in their footsteps by going off the rails. It's an overnight centre which is being launched, just outside the jail, so that the children of prisoners can stay for the night with their mums. Now some of you might think this is a great idea, maintaining that link between the mother and her child during her time in custody. Others might think this is a bad idea, and if you commit a crime part of your punishment is being separated from your loved ones. We want your thoughts, text us on 81333 start your message with the word Leeds or call 0345 313 3333. The interview you can hear is an EXCLUSIVE chat with a woman who spent 14 years behind bars at New Hall Women's Prison for the brutal murder of her father. Her name's Michelle Nicholson and she's spoken to BBC Radio Leeds reporter Tracy Gee.
