Arc of the Gurkha by Alex Schlacher, Austrian photographer. After a stint photographing American police departments, Alex was embedded with American troops in Afghanistan where she met the Gurkhas on patrol there. She had unparalleled access to the Gurkhas which is apparent through her intimate portraits through her time spent with them on operations as well as training excercises. Her own grueling excercise regime allowed her to keep pace with the Gurkhas
