A politics lecturer from the East Midlands has told Capital he doesn't think this election will live up to the hype of being the 'social media election'. Matthew Ashton from Nottingam Trent Uni says a lot of politicians don't know how to use sites like Twitter properly yet. Despite that, David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband all have Twitter accounts with thousands of followers. Education Sectretary and Loughborough MP, Nicky Morgan, has 26,000 followers and told Capital, most of the time, it's a good way of connecting with people. The Transport Secretary and Derbyshire MP, Patrick McLoughlin, says he's been put off having a Twitter account because things always seem to go wrong.
