Mist on the Fells Pt. 1: Impromptu improv (for pliés) - 1st 3 minutes

Mar 28, 2015, 10:44 PM

First 2/3 of impromptu improv I played for pliés in late March. 4-minute file wouldn't load so I split it in two parts. Part 2, the remaining minute, is just below (or next to) this one. . I wanna call this 3/4 time improv -- which shows I've listened to not a little Chopin in my time plus a bit of Satie now and then -- either: . "Rainy Afternoon on the Fells" * . ~or~ . "Mulder and Scully in a Melancholy Mood (OMG the X-Files is Coming Back Holy Crap Everything Dies But Then Nothing Disappears Without a Trace") . ~or maybe~ . "I Had a Pretty Good Lunch Before Class and Am Well-Rested So, Hey, Feeling Relaxed and Playing Okay Yay" . ...But you can call it "Blue Impromptu". . Maybe influenced a little by Satie's Gnossienne #1 for beginning theme? At least, it reminds me of something -- probably just of my having improvised similar things before in dance class! Although I've written songs, pencil in teeth -- some based on lyrics I'd already written or started -- sometimes an instrumental piece will just evolve, grow, during repeated playing during dance class. At least 2 pieces "wrote themselves" that way. ("IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIIIIVE!"). The beginning moments if this one are, I think, just a motif I've played before. ~~~ *I'm a bit taken with the landscape, story, tweets, ewes, dogs and puppies of @herdyshepherd1 on Twitter.
