Are voluntary organisations unfairly bearing the brunt of austerity cuts? In recent weeks we've heard about cut backs for arts bodies, community organisations and environmental groups - leaving many fearing for their future survival. Yesterday, Lenadoon Community Forum announced it was closing the doors on its Training For Employment Project after failing to secure funding from the Department of Social Development and the Department of Employment and Learning. It's been operating for 15 years at the Glen Community Complex and offers computer, English and maths courses to those who want to get off benefits and into the workplace. It's so popular there are 300 people waiting to avail of the educational opportunities. Our reporter, Nicola Weir, went to the centre to speak to those whose lives have been turned around by the project.
