Live a jazz life, train your improvisation muscle.

Today, April 30th, is designated by the United Nations as International Jazz day because this art form is recognised as a force for good in that it helps to promote freedom of expression, promotes dialogue among cultures and eradicates discrimination, among other things. Another truism about jazz is that the participants try to create harmony out of potential dischord. One articulate proponent of this principle is a prominent Danish musician Niels Lan Doky, who runs a club in Copenhagen called the Standard. He has just written a new book whose thesis is that the principles of jazz improvisation can be extended to every aspect of life itself. And he’s been talking to Malcolm Brabant.
