The bagpipes competed, at times, with the sound of tearful goodbyes; but keynote speaker Teresa Pike Tomlinson seemed to celebrating the 123 graduates while scolding an administration accused of lacking transparency. "Had you been called to action, we would not be here today at the proposed end of an era-- which is in desperate need of continuance. Tomlinson, a 1987 graduate now the mayor of Columbus, Georgia, said she was encouraged by the recent mediation convened in Richmond by Attorney General Mark Herring. Those talks resume today.
